Game #2: Wild vs. Flyers

We're not going far to see game #2. This weekend we're road-tripping down to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul to see my favorite team take on the Flyers. It will be an interesting trip as Jerry said he's going to cheer for the Flyers... so we'll see how that goes!

Unfortunately, a friend and mentor of Jerry's passed away last weekend so we will also be attending his funeral in the cities on the trip. Other than that and the game, we have no official plans to eat or sleep anywhere.

Any suggestions of good places to go in Minneapolis-St. Paul? We tend to get stuck in a rut and eat at the same restaurants and go to the same stores. We need some advice and ideas for new places to go!

  1. Hey! I don't know what kind of restaurants you are into, but I thought of a few that aren't like what we have around here.

Chai's is the best Thai food in Minneapolis that I've had. It's a pretty small place, and super delicious. It's in the Cedar Riverside Neighborhood on Cedar Ave, right by the Cedar Cultural Center and the Wienery.

Across the street and down a block is Tam Tam's a really good African restaurant. It's more friendly for Americans than some of the others and really good. When I've gone there before the owner has served us himself and he's full of funny comments.

Cedar Riverside is AKA Little Somalia, so don't be surprised if you don't feel like you're in MN anymore.

In Downtown St. Paul is a really fun restaurant called Pop! It's Latin fusion, and has a lot of deliciously unique dishes and drinks. I went there right when they opened a year and a half ago and thought it was really fun, but haven't been back since.

The last place I will recommend is a place I haven't been to, but I've heard it's the hot new burger joint in St. Paul. I think they just opened in the last 6-8 months, and have been busy ever since, because they are THAT good. Oh yeah, it's called The Blue Door Pub. The reviews say it's worth the wait!

Anyway, enjoy your trip and I'll be anxious to hear what you try!

  2. Thanks Eli!!

I LOVE Thai so maybe we'll try that one. The Blue Door Pub sounds great (who doesn't love burgers!?) too so maybe we'll see how busy it is. Can't wait!
